The prayer walk on Saturday Night was a good time. Thanks to all of you who came out to talk to God about our city, our friends, and our church. Speaking of the church, it was great to have Andrew Benson as our guest on Sunday to help us see what the church is, what her mission is, and to give us some really practical idea for how we can be a part of telling people about Jesus.

This Friday the 12th is the Send a Kid to Camp bake sale fundraiser! We need you to bake goods and bring used books to be sold at the sale! Also, if you can help with packaging on the evening of the 11th or help on the day of the sale, please let Carolyn know. This is important stuff. We need you to contribute! I know I say every Sunday is a good Sunday to come to church and invite a friend (and it is) but I truly believe this Sunday will be the best Sunday in the history of Deep Water to invite a friend. Seriously. The message will be all about forgiveness and will lay things out as clearly as I know how. I'm super excited and praying hard for this Sunday. Pray for someone and invite them this week. If they have kids even better because:

On Sunday, June 14th, we're going to have an awesome morning in Upstream, followed by a viewing of the Disney/Pixar movie UP. Every kid who comes to Upstream that week gets a free ticket, and another for one parent or guardian per family! This is a great chance to invite your friends with children, your children's friends, or your child-like friends. If you have any questions contact Kelly Thomas.

Deep Water will be doing fundraising activities in June and July to help send kids in need to summer camp. The kids we will be helping out are part of Julie Bennett (from PaxNorth)'s ministry. Each year she works to make sure they get the opportunity to get out of the city and experience a fun, Christian camp environment. Helping to pay their way is a great way for us to impact our city and help those in need.

For the first of our "Send a Kid to Camp" fundraising events, Deep Water will be hosting a bake sale at the Halifax Infirmary on June 12th. Last year this event was quite successful raising almost $500 but I think we can top that this year. The more baked goods we have to sell the more kids from underprivileged areas of Halifax get to go to camp this summer so please dust off the recipe books and get your bake on! We will also be selling used books and you are invited to contribute those as well. We request that all donations be packaged to sell and dropped off no later than June 11th to 34 Limardo Drive, Dartmouth (home of Carolyn Fifield). We will be going hiking at Point Pleasant Park on June 21st after church. Anyone interested will find Keltie Cheney at the entryway to the theatre and we can coordinate drives and bus routes. For those that need to take a bus, a group will walk down to the corner of Barrington and Spring Garden to catch the bus #9 at 1:00pm. If you don't need to take the bus, you can drive there and we will all meet up at the canteen at the bottom of the park (the Dockyard entrance) at 1:15pm.
