Week 2 of the prayer tent was a success on Saturday with a bunch of Deep Water volunteers showing up to pray for people downtown. We had many varied prayer requests, from concern over sick relatives, to a request for a taxi which was answered almost immediately, to the delight of both the people who asked for it and the Deep Water-ites who prayed!
AJ is away this week so Jen the Intern has been holding down the fort and has hijacked The Loop. If you weren't at Deep Water on Sunday you missed out on a great time of worship. Come on out this Sunday if you're in town!
This Week - AJ's Back
On Sunday AJ will be back and bringing the Word with the 5th installment of the Scary Stories series. You won't want to miss this message, or the chance to badger AJ & Kelly wth all kinds of questions about their whirlwind family vacation in several states and provinces! If you're lucky you'll also have a few minutes to marvel at how cute MIcah & Isaac still are and how many more inches they've grown in the last couple weeks.
Painting Day - Date Change!
Attention all parents of kids age 3+ and Upstream leaders/helpers! On Saturday, August 29 from 1-4 pm, you and your family are invited to Matt & Shannon Guest's house (61 Parkland Ave. in Dartmouth) for a fun (messy) day of painting, games, BBQ and just plain old hanging out. We will have various painting and other artsy-type supplies ready for the kids, as well as some fun outdoor games and maybe a kiddie-pool or two. We won't tell you exactly what's going to be happening (partly because we haven't figured it all out yet) - you'll have to come and find out! It'll be a fun surprise.
The main things to know are that it will be:
- Fun.
- Messy (Make sure your kids are wearing OLD CLOTHES. A great idea for a painting "smock" is an old t-shirt of yours that your little Picasso can put on over his/her own mess-able clothes.)
- Did we mention fun?
We plan to have a BBQ with burgers/hot dogs, which involves you in two ways: First, please RSVP the number of people from your family who will be attending to Shannon at 461.1536 or shannon.feindel@hotmail.com no later than Wed. July 29. Second, if you can bring chips/salad/drinks/dessert, please let Shannon know in your email. If it rains, we will reschedule for a future date TBD.
Don't forget - it will be messy! We can't stress this enough! Old clothes are key!
Prayer Tent
The idea is simple. We set up a tent in Grande Parade on Saturday from 10 pm to 2 am and offer to pray with people about whatever is going on in their life as a way of showing the Christ's love, inviting Him to be at work in their life, and building relationships. If you are planning to be there this week please let me know.
If you are interested in being a part of this ministry it's not to late to get involved. We will be holding a mini orientation for first timers each week at the tent right before we start.
And now you're in the loop.
