Deep Water is focused on serving the poor in our city and internationally. To make that happen, we have a team that works to coordinate and lead events and opportunities for the Deep Water community to participate in. Since Deep Water launched in November, this team has coordinated activities such as the Operation Christmas Child project, several FEED NOVA SCOTIA events and the camp kids fundraisers.
On Monday, August 18 at 7pm (122 Beech Tree Run) this leadership team will be meeting to discuss and pray through the plans for the upcoming year. If you are interested in being involved in leading in this ministry area, you are invited to attend. While participation in the Compassionate events includes everyone in Deep Water, this meeting is for the group that serves the church by facilitating the events.
If you want to be a part of this, drop Bryan an email and come out to the meeting.
Summer of Love
This summer, starting July 13th we are heading outside to meet in the sun for worship on Sundays. We will be doing some cool stuff like having a BBQ, playing some Ultimate, and celebrating our first ever "Sandwich Sunday". Here are the key details you need to know:
- Meeting on Sundays at 10:30 in the Garrison Grounds area of Citadel Hill, just up and over a block from Dresden Row across from the CBC building.
- We will be working to keep things under an hour.
- Feel free to bring a lawn chair (in fact, bring an extra one for someone else if you can) or a blanket to sit on. If not, you can always be totally hippy and just sit in the grass.
- We will not be offering supervised child care but we will be setting up a couple of play yards (like we currently use for nursery). Parents are encouraged to sit close to one and keep an eye on their children as they play.
- We will be providing cold drinks to help beat the heat but you will want to remember sunblock and sunglasses, hats, etc.
- This is an outdoor area that does not have public washrooms. There are several business close by that have facilities and there is a public washroom at Public Gardens a few blocks away. But those of you with young children may want to make an extra "just in case" pit stop before you come.
- WEATHER ISSUES: Should weather not permit us from meeting outside we will be in the theatre. If there is any question about the weather for the next day you can check www.deepwaterchurch.com anytime after 4pm Saturday. A message will be posted on the main page if we are moving inside and a special edition of "The Loop" will also be sent out by email. If there is no message on deepwaterchurch.com, assume we are meeting on the Garrison Grounds.
This summer will be an awesome time to invite a friend out to enjoy some sun, fun, and the teachings of Jesus. Who are you planning to invite?
And now you're in the loop.
