January 14, 2008
Hope you are enjoying your January. This mild weather is great - call be a bad Canadian but I could live without cold and snow. It's been awesome to have some many new friends with us over the past several weeks, speaking of which...
Pool Party
Deep Water will be holding it's first pool party on Wednesday night Jan 23 from 7-9pm at Dooley's 3129 Kempt Road in Halifax. Although we will definitely shoot some pool (come beat me - I promise it's pretty easy) the main goal of this evening is to give those folks who are newer to the church a chance to learn a little more about Deep Water, where we came from, and what we are all about. It's also just a great chance to get to know each other. We strongly encourage any one who has started coming in the last several months to come on out. If you have children and will need to get a sitter for the evening we will throw in $10 toward that because we really want you to be able to make it. See you there!
Yea for Babies!!!
On Friday Troy and Ceri Fletcher welcomed two bouncing baby, five pounds and change boys, Caden and Jax, into the world. Congratulations to the Fletchers and sincerest prayers for your survival.
About the Christmas Outreach with PAXnorth:
PAXnorth passes along thanks to Deep Water for our participation in their December 30th community supper.
Deep Water,
What a difference you made in caring for our city this Christmas time. Thank you so much for your direct service with us at our community dinner, supplying food to families and providing Christmas presents to a mom and her four kids. I can not express what a blessing all that each of you have done to organize, set up, clean up, and serve alongside of PAXnorth has encouraged us. If you check out the Blog on our website you will read some of the amazing conversations that we were able to have as you cared for the community members who came to the supper.
As a result of your caring spirit and servants heart we continue to hear about 'that amazing supper you had at the Marquee' plus this past Sunday night we had four people who came to the supper attend the worship service!
Thank You again for your willingness to serve our community;
I pray that you will know the blessing of God poured out in your church and our communities this year!

February 2 - Feed Nova Scotia
We're happy to announce the beginning of a partnership between Deep Water and Feed Nova Scotia. Feed Nova Scotia is a not-for-profit organization that serves the poor throughout Halifax and assists other organizations throughout Nova Scotia. Their support assists other organizations such as Ark Ministries, Metro Turning Point and the Salvation Army.
Deep Water will be sending a group to Feed Nova Scotia's Dartmouth warehouse, 25 Fielding Ave (Burnside), Unit 25 on February 2. From 11am to 3pm we will be working on site, sorting food and assisting in some manual labour which is necessary to their work.
This is a great opportunity to make a difference in the community. Not only that, but it's a great chance to invite friends to join with us in our efforts. Everyone wants to make a difference; this is a great way to take action!
All you need is work gloves, layered clothing that you don't mind getting dirty and some elbow grease. Donations, either non-perishable food or money, are requested.
We will be setting up some car pooling for that day.
Please email Bryan to let me know that you're coming, if you need a drive and how many friends you're bringing.
Please Pray
- For the Fletchers and the amazing adventure of raising twin boys they have just begun
- For the launch of small groups as we get leaders and host homes in place and prepare to begin meeting in February
- That God will continue to send new folks our way, especially those who don't yet have a relationship with Him and that we will continue to be faithful to tell the story and invite people out
Next Week
Is week 3 of our series on community and we will be getting specific about what small groups do when they get together and what you can expect. See you there.
And now you're in the loop.
