So I started out planning to paint my window frame and now, a week later I'm smack dab in the middle of paining my entire house. I've got it all scraped, palm sanded, and the first coat of paint on the house. Now I just need fix the door casing where we decided to rip off the screen door, prime the door and window frames and put one last coat on everything. My point being many big things (like painting a house and removing a door) start out quite small (like paining one window frame). So pay attention to the seemingly little things that God is showing you and calling you to because he is the King of using the small to accomplish the big.

This Week

We will be talking about how we all have a role to play in the Kingdom. Believe it or not you have God given abilities that he wants you to use in His mission to save the world. Plus we are going to be mixing things up with the worship band and throwing in some new players and instruments. It's going to be a fun day.

Pray For...

A few folks you will want to be praying for this week:

  • Kimberly Trites is writing her Royal College of Medicine exams Tuesday and Wednesday. These are massive exams and she has been working 100-120 hour weeks in the months leading up to them and so study time has been in short supply.
  • Robin Ogilvie writes his licensing exams to become pharmacist this week. I've seen the binder he has to know. It's about the size of three phonebooks.
  • Karl & Keltie Cheney as they await the arrival of their first baby sometime in the next week or two (please Lord not three).

Burma Relief

We received this word World Hope, and relief and development organization that we are big fans of at Deep Water, this week:

"Many of you have been watching the tragedy in Burma unfold on the evening news. As you know, the political situation there has frustrated the attempts of many organizations to provide life-saving assistance to the cyclone victims.
The good news is that in partnership with World Hope Intl (USA), we are now able to get emergency supplies across the border. This means that we are now in a position to responsibly accept donations for the Burma relief effort.
The best ways to give are either by making an online donation through our website to emergency relief Burma, or else by mailing us a cheque to our Ottawa office designated "Burma." Our address is:
World Hope Canada
Box 21082
RPO Ottawa South
Ottawa, ON
K1S 5N1
Above all, I urge you to pause now, even as you read this, and take a minute to pray for God's grace to lift Burma up."
What's Your Story?

Although we only launched about 6 months ago the truth is folks have been working to make Deep Water a reality for over a year now. Some of those folks you already know because we are at Deep Water every week. Other you may never meet. They are spread out all over Atlantic Canada and beyond and they are the people who pray and give to make Deep Water happen.

As we come to the summer I would love to be able to share some stories with them of the ways God is using Deep Water. That's where you come in. I'm asking you to write about a paragraph on how God has used Deep Water in your life. Maybe it's about starting a relationship with Jesus, maybe it's about getting serious about following Him, or maybe it's about finding a place where you have friends who love you and you can grow in your faith. However it goes, it's your story and I would love to hear it so I can share it with some of the folks who help make Deep Water possible. Please take the time to white up your story and email it to me. You can also indicate if you would prefer for your story to remain anonymous. Thanks in advance.

Giving Commitment Cards

We talked about money and giving on Sunday. If you missed it I encourage you to listen to the podcast. We are asking folks who are followers of Jesus and who consider Deep Water to be their home to fill out a Giving Commitment Card. There is a place for you to give your name and address and to indicate how much you are committing to give for the coming year. We are asking folks to fill theirs out a return it by the end of the month.

This helps us to know how much we will have to work with so we can plan wisely and it helps you by giving you a concrete commitment to what God would have do in this area of your life. These cards are available on the offering box in the theatre and can be placed in the offering box once they are filled out. They will only be seen by our bookkeeper and he knows how much you give anyway for tax receipting purposes. They can be placed in an envelope or folded in half for additional confidentiality.

And now you're in the loop.
