Greetings. This is the first edition of "the Loop" since we got back from Haiti. It was amazing. Stay tuned each Sunday for the next little while as we continue to share our experiences and future plans.

This is the third and final week of Schooled. I'm super excited for this message. Jesus has a huge challenge for the religious leaders who are confronting Him and for you and me as well. We will also hear another update from one of the folks who just got back from Haiti.

It's our 2nd birthday and we are throwing a party. This would be a horrible week to miss and a great week to bring a friend. Big party, big music, big cake, lots of fun stuff, and a Baptism to top it all off, this is going to be awesome.

Ever wonder what the Bible is all about? Wish you had a better foundational understanding of scripture? New to following Jesus and want to get to know the Bible better? The Bible Story Course is an eight-week study through the story of the Bible that I will be teaching this fall at Deep Water that will help you understand scripture better, see how it all fits together into one complete story, and what that stories teaches us. We will meet on Saturday mornings from 10-12 starting October 24th. For more information or to sign up, email me.

On our Birthday Sunday (Nov 1st) we will be having a baptism. Baptism is the way Jesus taught us to publicly declare that we are his followers. If you are a follower of Jesus and you have never been baptized, this is the perfect time to go for it. If you have questions about Baptism or want to be Baptized on Nov 1st, just let me know.

It's finally here. Many of you have been asking for it, and we've been working on it, and now we are ready to go. If you are interested in using this convenient method for giving to God through Deep Water you can pick up a form at the theatre on Sunday, or contact me and I'll email you one to print out. You simply fill it out, attach a void check, and put it in the offering box. While I know many of us will go this route, of course you will still be welcome to use the offering box each week.

The compassionate ministries team is organizing an event called blanket outreach. This event will consist of collecting donations of blankets to be handed out to people who are homeless in Halifax. There are two ways for you, the people of Deep Water, to get involved. First, you can donate. We will be accepting blanket donations during the Sundays of Oct.18th, 25th, and Nov. 1st. Second, you can help distribute the blankets. On the night of Saturday Nov. 7th we will be heading downtown in groups of four, to hand out the blankets to people living on the street in Halifax.
