Church Tomorrow

It's looking like another wet Sunday in Halifax and so we WILL be meeting IN THE THEATRE again this week. I look forward to seeing you there. We will be looking at some of the most counterintuitive and seemingly contradictory things Jesus ever said.

Prayer Walk Tonight

There will be a prayer walk around downtown tonight for anyone who want to join me. We will be meeting at the Garrison Grounds (our outside venue across from the CBC building) parking lot at 10:30 and then dividing up into teams and going from there. Please let me know if you plan to attend so we know to expect you and don't leave before you.

We continue to make good progress towards our goal of raising $3,000 to send kids to camp, which is awesome! With a little work we will be there by the first of August. Check out the section below for how you can be involved.

On Sunday I left you with this question "It's pride week in Halifax, where is Jesus, and what does that call us to as his body" and once you have had some time to really think about it I’d love to hear your thoughts. You can email me at aj@deepwaterchurch.com.

Kids to Camp Fundraising

We have had some amazing fundraisers so far for our "Sending Kids to Camp" and have managed to raise some pretty significant funds and we want to keep that trend going. Cash (or check) donations toward this project can be made through Deep Water until the end of July. Simply mark your contribution clearly for "Kids to Camp" and put it in the offering box on Sunday.

Summer of Love

This summer, starting July 13th we are heading outside to meet in the sun for worship on Sundays. We will be doing some cool stuff like having a BBQ, playing some Ultimate, and celebrating our first ever "Sandwich Sunday". Here are the key details you need to know:

  • Meeting on Sundays at 10:30 in the Garrison Grounds area of Citadel Hill, just up and over a block from Dresden Row across from the CBC building.
  • We will be working to keep things under an hour.
  • Feel free to bring a lawn chair (in fact, bring an extra one for someone else if you can) or a blanket to sit on. If not, you can always be totally hippy and just sit in the grass.
  • We will not be offering supervised child care but we will be setting up a couple of play yards (like we currently use for nursery). Parents are encouraged to sit close to one and keep an eye on their children as they play.
  • We will be providing cold drinks to help beat the heat but you will want to remember sunblock and sunglasses, hats, etc.
  • This is an outdoor area that does not have public washrooms. There are several business close by that have facilities and there is a public washroom at Public Gardens a few blocks away. But those of you with young children may want to make an extra "just in case" pit stop before you come.
  • WEATHER ISSUES: Should weather not permit us from meeting outside we will be in the theatre. If there is any question about the weather for the next day you can check www.deepwaterchurch.com anytime after 4pm Saturday. A message will be posted on the main page if we are moving inside and a special edition of "The Loop" will also be sent out by email. If there is no message on deepwaterchurch.com, assume we are meeting on the Garrison Grounds.
This summer will be an awesome time to invite a friend out to enjoy some sun, fun, and the teachings of Jesus. Who are you planning to invite?

And now you're in the loop.
