UPSTREAM KIDS

Helping children become passionate followers of Jesus Christ.

We consider it an honour to help guide children to love and follow Jesus.
Upstream meets almost every Sunday for just that purpose!
We’re choosing Jesus’s way: swimming Upstream, not with the current.

At Upstream, kids connect to God through age-appropriate worship, engaging Bible lessons and prayer.
They connect with their church community through games, snacks and small group activities
that reinforce the truths we’re learning from God’s Word.
Fun isn’t our first priority, but there’s no shortage of it!

We’d love for your kids to join us as we love and follow Jesus,
and make some really great friends along the way.

BE OUR GUEST

First time visiting?

Visiting soon? (Yay!) Pre-registering makes your check-in experience faster and easier! In person, our helpful team is happy to help you register and complete the check-in process at a kiosk.

At our secure electronic check-in, children receive name tags and parents receive corresponding security tags to be returned to us at check-out.

Check-in starts 15 minutes before each gathering, and we recommend coming early to get everyone settled.

One Group: Pre-Primary - Grade 6

We’re still new in Woodlawn, but we have plans to add another ministry room for a separate Waders (Pre-Prim/Primary) space. For now, we’re one big happy family in the main kids’ space. We are unable to provide nursery care at this time due to facility constraints.

 FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

  • Sure, especially for the younger kids; but we encourage parents to only stay briefly. You’re welcome to see our bright, well-equipped rooms, meet our fantastic leaders, and help your child get settled. We then ask that you return to the adult gathering, as the classrooms are secure areas.

  • Eating and talking together is what families do, so we offer a snack in our small groups each week. We always have alternatives and try to accommodate a variety of common food allergies and dental work. You are also welcome to send along a different snack for your child. Please include any allergies with your registration and they will appear on a child’s name tag.

  • Yes, but please arrange this in advance by giving your security tag to the person authorized to pick up your child, so that they can be safely checked out. Please inform our team at Check-In as well.

  • All of our leaders are committed followers of Jesus. They have completed a thorough application process, guided by standards set forth by Plan to Protect, a company that is recognized internationally for their work with vulnerable sector protection and abuse prevention. This process includes reference checks, a criminal background check, and protection policy training. Our “StreamTeam” is committed to your child’s safety, sense of belonging, and spiritual growth.

  • About once per month (usually on long weekends), Upstream takes an intentional break so that the children can attend “big church.” If the Kingdom of God includes kids, then so should our gatherings. We believe that children should witness their parents in worship and growing spiritually. Kids need to understand their value in their larger faith community and experience the body of Christ in action.

We’ve got Notes pages to help the older kids follow along with the service. And for the younger kids (Pre-Prim - Gr 2), we offer a video option in the Upstream room.
